Course Description:

This course will provide healthcare professionals with essential knowledge on the management of concussions in children and adolescents. Participants will explore strategies for acute and chronic concussion management, develop tailored plans for return to school and play, and examine the significance of mood changes in recovery. By the end of this course, participants will be equipped with practical tools to support young patients through each stage of recovery.

  • Verbalize acute and chronic management strategies for concussion in this age group.
  • Create a return to school and return to play plan after concussion.
  • Discuss why actual or potential changes in mood are important toaddress after concussion.

  • Bio: Roni L. Robinson, MSN, RN, CRNP is a Pediatric NursePractitioner at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. Roni completedher undergraduate studies at The University of Delaware, where she received her BSN in Nursing and her graduatestudies at The University of Pennsylvania, where she received her MSN in the Pediatric Acute/Chronic Nurse PractitionerProgram. In 2021 she completed a Pediatric Integrative Fellowship Program at the Andrew Weil Center for IntegrativeMedicine at the University of Arizona. She works with the Division of Orthopedic Surgery and the Trauma Program. Shehas a Nurse practitioner led concussion clinic twice a week in the Trauma Program. She has lectured extensively locally,regionally and nationally as well as to graduate nursing students about various aspects of concussion. She serves as aconsultant to the American Academy of Pediatrics for mild traumatic brain injury, including being a staff member of an Presentation InformationFormECHO project for pediatric TBI. She is a member of the Education and Resource Work Group at the Brian InjuryAssociation of Pennsylvania and is a facilitator for the University of Pennsylvania TBI Support group.
