Job Description

The Sway software development team is looking for a talented Senior Quality Assurance (QA) Engineer to document, develop, and execute exploratory and automated tests to ensure product quality. The Senior QA Engineer will report to the VP of Software.

The Senior QA Engineer is responsible for designing and implementing tests, documenting, debugging, and defining corrective actions. The Senior QA Engineer will also review system requirements and track quality assurance metrics. This plays an important part in our company’s product development process. The Senior QA Engineer will be responsible for all required software documentation and conducting tests before product launches to ensure software runs smoothly and meets client needs. The Senior QA Engineer will be required to display leadership qualities and build QA processes from scratch or refactor existing processes as needed. Ultimately, the Senior QA Engineer will monitor and document all stages of software development to identify and resolve system malfunctions to meet quality standards.

As a new department, the Senior/Lead QA Engineer will play a completely hands on role with QA testing while building processes to scale our QA efforts. As the company grows, the Senior/Lead QA Engineer will have the opportunity to lead the department and be responsible for interviewing, hiring, and retaining top QA talent.

In this role, the Senior QA Engineer will:

  • Review requirements, specifications, and technical design documents to provide timely and meaningful feedback
  • Create detailed, comprehensive, and well-structured test plans and test cases
  • Estimate, prioritize, plan and coordinate testing activities
  • Design, develop and execute automation scripts using open-source tools
  • Identify, record, document thoroughly, and track bugs
  • Perform thorough regression testing when bugs are resolved
  • Develop and apply testing processes for new and existing products to meet client needs
  • Liaise with internal teams to identify system requirements
  • Monitor debugging process results
  • Investigate the causes of non-conforming software and train users to implement solutions
  • Track quality assurance metrics, like defect densities and open defect counts
  • Stay up to date with new testing tools and test strategies
  • Stay up to date with medical device documentation and standards
  • Take responsibility of updating all required documentation regarding medical device software releases

Qualifications

  • Ability to take initiative and build/improve QA processes without being instructed
  • Proven work experience in softwarequality assurance with knowledge of software QA methodologies, tools, andprocesses
  • Experience in writing clear, concise,and comprehensive test plans and test cases
  • Hands-on experience with automatedtesting tools
  • Asks “how can I break it?” aftersomebody makes it.
  • Solid knowledge of SQL and scripting
  • Experience working in an Agile/Scrumdevelopment process
  • Experience with performance and/orsecurity testing is a plus
  • Ability to find more bugs than anexterminator
  • BS/MS degree in Computer Science,Engineering, or a related subject
